Dear Siena families and friends,
How do we capture our gratitude for everyone as we bring this historic school year to a close? It is difficult to put into words how profoundly grateful I feel for the collaborative work by our students, families, teachers, staff, pastors, board members, and community over the past few months. Saying thank you seems so inadequate.
To our students I say, “Well done! We are so proud of you for your hard work and resilience. You rose to the challenges that life put in front of you during the last quarter of the school year. Your ability to problem solve and adapt to change will serve you well for the rest of your life.”
To our parents and teachers I say, “God bless you for working as partners to educate our students. We found new ways to work together and we deepened our appreciation for one another.” We have stayed true to our collective mission of helping our children grow into the people God intended them to be.
To our graduating seniors and eighth-graders, I say, “May God’s choicest blessings be upon each and every one of you and you venture forward to college, high school or a career. We are sorry the year did not end the way you deserved. Your graduation will be unique and one for the record books. Congratulations to the Class of 2020 for all that you have accomplished!”
Stay safe and healthy throughout the summer. I hold you in my prayers and am continuously grateful for your belief in Siena Catholic Schools of Racine.

Though the current COVID-19 situation kept our campuses closed through the end of the school year, our faculty and staff continued to carry on our mission in new ways and worked every day to ensure our community continued to learn and stay safe. Throughout the distance learning we took your feedback and altered our teaching/learning plans, which included grade-specific professional development on Fridays. Sharing best-practices across all of our grade school campuses allowed for creativity and new ideas to flow. Every professional development group has a principal and/or learning support coordinator and a designated teacher leader. It is exciting to bring these new ideas back to the classroom and we will continue this practice for the benefit of students and teachers alike!

WELCOMING THE CLASS OF 2024

The Siena Admissions Office, Angel Ambassadors, and SCHS teachers and staff have been welcoming incoming freshmen as well as other new high school students through virtual meet and greets. Students were able to connect with a variety of teachers, learn about academics, clubs, athletics, and the new STEM lab. Mr. Reidl even shared the exciting news that lunch periods will increase by 25%, giving students more time to fuel up for the remainder of the day.
For those students and family members who weren’t able to join us, additional meet and greets are planned. Look for an email from Siena Admissions in the coming days!
Would you like to see something similar at the elementary schools? Email admissions@sienacatholicschools.org with your ideas! We want to stay connected, even via Zoom!

After much deliberation, we have made the decision to cancel our 2020 Elementary Summer School program with the Center for Urban Teaching. This is disappointing, but after consultation with the Racine Health Department, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and CfUT staff, we felt it was important to make this decision with the health of our students and staff in mind. Our first summer school program with the CfUT was a tremendous success and we look forward to re-starting our partnership with them in future years!
A separate email will be sent to St. Catherine’s parents and students regarding summer school.

BLACK & WHITE BALL WRAP UP

We are thrilled to announce that the online auction was a huge success. The week-long auction and one-day Bid for a Purpose campaign raised nearly $60,000 to support our Angels of Today. Traditionally, the Black & White Ball hosts over 200 guests in the McGuire Gymnasium, but to ensure the safety of our guests, we quickly transitioned to an online format.
We were well situated to pivot to an online format with the support of sponsors, advertisers, and a committee made up of current and past parents. The Black & White Ball represents the school’s largest annual fundraiser to support the academic and extracurricular needs of students.
Special thanks to Angie Peterson ’99, Associate Director of Development, and the Black & White Ball Committee Members who made this possible! Thank you for your tireless work on behalf of St. Catherine’s!
Please enjoy the video that offers a thank you to everyone that advocated for and financially supported the 2020 Black & White Ball. We look forward to bringing the traditional event back in-person on Saturday, April 17, 2021.

Our school buildings may be devoid of children and faculty but that doesn’t mean they sit empty. Currently, our Siena custodial teams are performing their annual summer deep cleanings a bit earlier than normal. Furniture is being moved and floors are receiving a good cleaning and waxing.
Additional projects are planned for summer including upgrades to fire alarm systems at JPIIA and St Rita.
